Subject Directories: Created by Libraries

Many university libraries review, collect, and organize material into subject guides so it may be more easily found and used for research. Below are two examples.

Rutgers University Libraries Subject Research Guides
Research Resources page
These highlight the most important sources in an academic discipline.

They provide links to online sites on a subject.

They also highlight important books and journals that are available in the Rutgers University Libraries.

The material selected for inclusion has been reviewed by librarians and is usually annotated.

Other excellent library subject directories:  AcademicInfo.net, Librarians' Index to the Internet (lii.org), and Social Science Information Gateway (sosig.ac.uk).
